Girl Scouts of South Carolina—Mountains to Midlands calls on community to nominate women leaders for 2026 Women of Distinction Awards
April 27, 2026Girl Scouts of South Carolina—Mountains to Midlands (GSSC-MM) is calling on the Midlands community to help shine a spotlight on extraordinary women by submitting nominations for the 2026 Midlands Women of Distinction Awards.
Since 1993, the Women of Distinction program has honored women who exemplify courage, confidence, and character—the same values Girl Scouts strives to build in every girl. Each year, community members nominate women whose professional accomplishments, community leadership, and commitment to service inspire others and help shape a stronger Midlands for future generations.
Nominations are now open for two honoree categories:
- Community Honoree – Celebrating women who make a lasting impact in the Midlands through leadership and service.
- Young Professional Honoree – Recognizing a current or former Girl Scout who is a young professional living out Girl Scout values in her career and community.
Honorees will be celebrated at the 2026 Women of Distinction Awards ceremony in Columbia, an annual event that brings together business leaders, community partners, and changemakers—all in support of local Girl Scouts and leadership development for girls.
Nominations close Monday, May 18, 2026.
Community members are encouraged to think broadly and nominate women who lead with integrity, uplift others, and serve as powerful role models for girls.

Girl Scouts of South Carolina—Mountains to Midlands
Girl Scouts bring their dreams to life and work together to build a better world. Through programs from coast to coast, Girl Scouts of all backgrounds and abilities can be unapologetically themselves as they discover their strengths and rise to meet new challenges—whether they want to climb to the top of a tree or the top of their class, lace up their boots for a hike or advocate for climate justice, or make their first best friends. Backed by trusted adult volunteers, mentors, and millions of alums, Girl Scouts lead the way as they find their voices and make changes that affect the issues most important to them.
