Grant named Lexington One’s new executive director of operations
April 28, 2026At its April 21, 2026, meeting, the Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees approved the recommendation of Robert Grant as the district’s new executive director of operations, effective July 1, 2026.
Grant brings more than two decades of experience in education, leadership and district-level operations, including extensive oversight of school facilities, maintenance, construction and capital projects. In his current role as chief operations officer for Richland County School District One, he oversees facilities management, including maintenance, construction and capital projects, while also leading long-range facilities planning, capital budgeting and bond referendum development. His work includes collaborating with architects, engineers, contractors and district leaders to support safe, functional and effective learning environments. Before that, Grant served as assistant superintendent for operations in Orangeburg County School District, where he oversaw maintenance and facilities and helped guide capital fund projects, budgets and long-range operational planning.
Across his district leadership roles, Grant has led work tied to maintenance cycles, renovations, new construction, system upgrades and facility conditions, using data to help prioritize needs, align resources and support efficient, high-quality school operations. He has regularly presented project updates, budget priorities and compliance matters to boards of trustees and executive leadership teams.
Grant also brings school-based leadership experience, having served as a principal and assistant principal responsible for the daily operations, budgets and safety of school buildings. That experience has helped shape his school-focused approach to operational leadership and facilities planning.
Grant holds a Bachelor of Arts in communications/journalism from USC-Spartanburg, a Master of Education in elementary education from Converse College and an educational specialist degree in administration and supervision. He has also served in leadership roles with professional organizations including the South Carolina Association of School Administrators, the South Carolina School Improvement Council and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.
