Bailey joins Morton & Gettys

A South Carolina native and lifelong resident of the Palmetto State, JD Bailey has joined Morton & Gettys as its newest associate.

His practice includes commercial real estate, land use and zoning, corporate law, and general civil litigation. He is licensed in South Carolina and North Carolina.

Bailey is a graduate of the Elon University School of Law, where he earned Dean’s List honors and finished in the Top 10 of his class. He served a legal internship and was a judicial resident with U.S. District Judge Frank D. Whitney while in law school.

He also was a law clerk with Morton & Gettys. In that capacity, he sharpened his legal skills by drafting legal documents and memos, conducting research, and drafting closing documents in multi-million-dollar real estate transactions.

Bailey grew up in the Lowcountry, where he helped work on his family’s dairy farm until leaving for college at Francis Marion University. He earned a bachelor’s in biology, graduating cum laude while also playing on the university’s NCAA baseball team.
