The Moore School widens its reach with LifeLong Learning

April 29, 2026

Do you know everything you need to know in today’s business environment? Of course not. None of us knows everything.

But at the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina, we know an amazing number of things that would help you greatly in your career or your business. And we’re prepared to share that knowledge and understanding with you, through an initiative we call LifeLong Learning (LLL).

Executive Education at the Moore School is offering this to anyone in business who wants to learn how to move ahead. You don’t have to be an “Executive” to sign up and benefit greatly. Ambitious individuals and companies have always come to us because they want to learn from the best, and that’s what you find with the Moore School faculty. This opportunity is being offered, affordably, to everyone, regardless of previous education levels.

LLL is designed to make the expertise that exists at the highest levels of academia available to a much-wider public.

“You shouldn’t have to be with a Fortune 500 company to stay on top of new technologies or refresh on the fundamentals,” says Prof. Chris Yenkey, the faculty director of LLL. “We have a responsibility to all South Carolinians, and an essential role to play in making understanding of business available to a wider audience than ever before.”

These courses will bring you together with faculty who are at the tops of their respective fields in a small class environment that will maximize the opportunity to engage not only with faculty, but with your fellow students.

What will you learn about through LLL? We’re starting the program with up-to-date training in an area that’s changing so fast that even if you received a degree in it a year ago, you would still need an intensive refresher course.

That’s Artificial Intelligence – something most businesspeople weren’t thinking about five or ten years ago, but which is coming at all of us in a surprising number of ways every day, like water from multiple fire hoses. That may sound menacing, but it doesn’t have to be. This program will show you how to turn that flood into an opportunity, possibly the biggest you have ever encountered or ever will encounter.

The inaugural workshop will be led by Dr. Özgür (Oz) İnce and Prof. Joel Wooten, two of the leading experts on AI at the Darla Moore School of Business. As members of the school’s AI Committee, they have helped lead the efforts to transform the AI curriculum and develop the next generation of business leaders. Both are award-winning teachers known for engaging, immersive, hands-on instruction featuring cutting-edge AI tools.

From them, you can learn not only what others are doing with AI today, but what you can do, and how to do it.

You will learn exactly how to put AI to work — in your marketing, your operations, and your day-to-day decisions. The workshop also addresses one of the most pressing challenges professionals face today: how to use AI effectively while protecting sensitive, confidential and proprietary information. This isn’t a lecture. You’ll work directly with AI tools throughout the day and leave with things you can use immediately.

Other topic areas will follow AI, but the curriculum is still taking shape. Prof. Yenkey says the emphasis will be on “bread and butter, practical things that people need to deal with in the real world.”

One thing we know for sure right now is this: The AI insights this program can give you is something that will make you better at practically whatever you do, or want to do.
