New Lions Club Coming to Cross Hill Area; Community Meeting Set for May 5
May 3, 2026Residents of Cross Hill, Mountville, Waterloo, and surrounding communities have a new opportunity to come together for a shared purpose, as organizers work to launch a Lions Club serving the area. A public meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 5, at 6 p.m. at the Cross Hill Fire Department on Main Street.
The gathering is open to anyone interested in learning more about the organization and how a local club could serve the community. Organizers say the goal is to bring together residents who want to make a tangible difference close to home.
Lions Clubs International is one of the largest service organizations in the world, with more than 1.4 million members in over 200 countries. Lions are known for their commitment to improving communities through hands-on service projects, with a strong focus on vision care, hunger relief, disaster response, youth programs, and supporting those in need at the local level.
Leading the effort to establish the Cross Hill club is Eddie Marshall, a veteran Lions member who brings extensive organizational experience to the initiative. “I’ve been in the Lions Club 29 years, serving at the local level as club president, and at the state level as a Past District Governor and Past Council Chairperson,” Marshall said. “We’re looking forward to getting this club started and beginning to serve Cross Hill and the surrounding communities. This is a great opportunity for people who want to give back, meet others, and be part of something that truly makes a difference.”
Community members of all backgrounds are encouraged to attend and explore how they can play a role in shaping the future of service in the Cross Hill area. For more information, contact Eddie Marshall at 864-200-9797.
