The Fair at Heritage Park Unveils Safety Policies Ahead of Opening Day
May 6, 2026With just over a week until the gates open, organizers of the Fair at Heritage Park have released a comprehensive list of safety policies to ensure a family-friendly environment for all attendees.
The annual event, scheduled to run from May 15 through May 24, 2026, is a staple of Upstate South Carolina’s spring lineup. Known for its wide array of classic carnival food—ranging from funnel cakes and loaded tater tots to giant fresh-squeezed slushies and roasted corn—the fair is taking proactive measures to streamline security as it prepares to welcome thousands of visitors.
Clear Guidelines for a Smooth Entry
The newly announced safety measures address crowd control, personal item restrictions, and general security screening:
-
Youth Attendance Policy: To promote a safe environment, no individuals under the age of 17 will be allowed admission after 5:00 p.m. daily unless accompanied by a parent.
-
Firm Gate Closures: Entrance gates will enforce strict nightly cutoff times. Admission will close after 9:00 p.m. from Sunday through Thursday, and after 10:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
-
Strict Clear Bag Policy: Only clear bags not exceeding 12″ x 6″ x 12″ will be permitted inside the fairgrounds. Guests may also bring one-gallon clear plastic freezer bags or small clutch purses no larger than 4.5″ x 6.5″. While strollers and diaper bags are allowed, they are subject to manual inspection.
-
Security Screening: All guests entering the fairgrounds will pass through metal detectors at the entry gates.
A Focus on Safe, Community-Centered Fun
The updated guidelines reflect a broader regional effort by fair organizers to implement modern security practices at large-scale public events. By standardizing bag requirements and managing youth admission in the evening, organizers aim to minimize wait times at the gates while keeping the focus on entertainment, rides, and food.
Local families and thrill-seekers looking to purchase tickets or view the full daily schedule of events and promotions can find details online ahead of the fair’s official opening on Friday, May 15.
