Laurens County Future Scholarship Expands Pathway to Bachelor’s Degree Through Presbyterian College Partnership
May 11, 2026Laurens County students now have an expanded pathway to earn a four-year college degree tuition-free, thanks to a new partnership between the Laurens County Future Scholarship and Presbyterian College.
The Laurens County Future Scholarship has long provided high school graduates in the county the opportunity to attend Piedmont Technical College or USC Union at Laurens for two years at no cost for tuition. The numbers reflect the program’s growing impact: since its inception, the scholarship has funded 311 students, produced 144 graduates, and supported approximately 300 credentials earned by Laurens County residents.
Now, the board has partnered with Presbyterian College to launch the Laurens County Transfer Promise Scholarship, which allows students who have completed two years of coursework at Piedmont Technical College to transfer to PC and earn their bachelor’s degree tuition-free.
The expanded program creates a seamless, fully funded academic journey for Laurens County students, from their first day of community college to the completion of a four-year degree, all without leaving the region they call home.
The partnership reflects a growing commitment among local institutions, school districts, and community organizations to invest in the future of Laurens County’s young people. With the support of partners including the Laurens County Development Corporation, Laurens District 55, Laurens District 56, Laurens Academy, and Thornwell Charter School, the scholarship program continues to build pathways that keep talent in the county and open doors that might otherwise remain closed.
