Dorchester County hosts Memorial Day ceremony to commemorate military personnel
May 12, 2026Dorchester County invites community members to the annual Memorial Day Ceremony, on Monday, May 25, 2026, at 10 a.m. at the Davis-Bailey Park pavilion, located at 5190 E. Jim Bilton Boulevard in St. George.
The event will commemorate the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice during their service in the U.S. military and honor their legacy. The program will feature opening remarks from Councilman Peter Smith, Jr. (District 1), a veteran of the U.S. Navy. The keynote address will be delivered by Mary Rae Yingling, a disabled Vietnam Era veteran with service in the Women of the Air Force (WAF).
The ceremony will include traditional elements such as the Posting of Colors, the National Anthem, and a special wreath-laying at the veterans’ monument. The event will conclude with a musical performance of Taps, symbolizing remembrance and respect.
Dorchester County encourages residents and visitors to join in this meaningful annual event to reflect on the service and sacrifice of the armed forces. Registration is not required for this event.
