Fountain Inn Seniors Return from “Wonderful” Excursion to Helen, Georgia
May 13, 2026A group of local residents recently returned from a scenic getaway to the Blue Ridge Mountains, as the City of Fountain Inn Parks and Recreation department celebrated the successful conclusion of its latest senior program trip to Helen, Georgia.
The excursion, designed for members of the community’s 55+ Club, offered participants a chance to explore the famous Alpine-inspired village known for its Bavarian architecture, unique shopping, and mountain views.
A Journey of Connection and Community
According to city officials, the trip was a resounding success, focused on providing “meaningful experiences” for the town’s senior population. Attendees enjoyed a mix of sightseeing and quality social time, creating new memories against the backdrop of one of Georgia’s most popular destination towns.
“We had a wonderful trip to Helen, Georgia, filled with great memories, beautiful scenery, and quality time together,” the department shared in a public statement. “Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the trip such a success.”
Fueling Local Adventures: The Role of Sponsors
The ability to provide these subsidized community adventures relies heavily on local partnerships. The Parks and Recreation department extended a special thank you to the sponsors who made the Helen trip possible:
-
City of Fountain Inn Municipality
-
The Mill at Fountain Inn
-
Chick-fil-A Simpsonville
-
Legacy Reserve at Fairview Park
Support from these local entities ensures that the senior program can continue to offer diverse activities that promote active living and social engagement for Fountain Inn’s aging population.
Looking Ahead
The Helen trip is part of a robust seasonal calendar managed by the Parks and Recreation team. With the summer months approaching, the department continues to develop programs ranging from local social gatherings to out-of-state adventures.
Residents interested in joining future 55+ Club outings or learning more about senior-focused activities are encouraged to visit the Fountain Inn Parks and Recreation office or follow their official social media channels for upcoming registration dates.
As the group settles back into their Upstate routine, the vibrant pink shirts worn by the participants during their Georgia adventure remain a symbol of the thriving “adventure spirit” within the Fountain Inn community.
