Former Georgetown County economic development leader named Lancaster County Administrator
May 14, 2026Lancaster County Council recently announced the appointment of a familiar face in South Carolina economic development and governance as its new County Administrator. Brian Tucker, a native of Lancaster and a veteran leader with extensive experience in Georgetown County and Myrtle Beach, will officially assume the role on July 1.
Tucker brings a powerhouse background in regional growth and community leadership to his hometown. Most notably, he served as the Director of Economic Development for Georgetown County for nearly seven years, where he was instrumental in driving industrial and commercial investment. His deep ties to the region’s business community were further solidified during his nearly two-year tenure as President of the Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce.
For Tucker, the appointment is more than a career milestone—it is a return to his roots.
“I am excited and humbled to serve as the next County Administrator of Lancaster County. Coming home to serve my family and friends is overwhelmingly surreal,” said Tucker. “I have watched the growth and evolution of Lancaster County over the years. Maintaining the warmth and character of our distinct communities while channeling this unprecedented growth is an exciting opportunity.”
Tucker joins Lancaster County from the City of Myrtle Beach, where he served as Assistant City Manager for over four years. In that role, he oversaw critical infrastructure and service departments, including: Public Works and Construction Services, Planning and Zoning and the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.
His leadership portfolio also includes four years with the North Augusta Chamber of Commerce, where he served as President, and several years in the private sector within the real estate and banking industries.
A graduate of Clemson University with a Bachelor’s degree in Financial Management, Tucker has dedicated his career to professional excellence. He earned professional credentials from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for Organizational Management and the University of Oklahoma’s Economic Development Institute.
