Pawleys Island Festival of Music & Art announces ticket sales for Tony Bennett tribute during fall concert series

The Pawleys Island Festival of Music & Art (PIFMA) is pleased to present “The Good Life,” a Tony Bennett tribute concert featuring the Joe Gransden Orchestra on Thursday, October 15 at 7:00 pm at The Reserve Golf Club of Pawleys Island.

Join Joe Gransden and his orchestra as they perform an unforgettable, swingin’ stroll through the life and career of Tony Bennett.  One of the greatest performers ever of the American Songbook, Tony Bennett’s tone, phrasing, and feel were second to none, and Joe Gransden delivers the magic of Tony Bennett through his exceptional performance in this swinging tribute.

“He was still around and singing wonderfully. I went to see him in concert. He had an almost classical breathing style when he sang. It was this Italian bel canto, almost operatic. It’s why he could sing well into his 90s… when I saw him, he sang for 90 minutes straight with no intermission,” Gransden said. “His attention to lyrics and melody makes him one of the greatest singers.”

Bennett passed at 96 in 2023 after a battle with Alzheimer’s, but his legacy has remained a powerful influence for Gransden. That is so true, in fact, that he wrote a show dedicated to Bennett.

Gransden hopes folks of all ages will turn out — from those who grew up listening to Bennett on vinyl to younger fans who discovered him through his more recent collaboration with Lady Gaga. Regardless, he is looking forward to sharing the music.

“I think it’s important to pay respect to his music. To me, the Great American Songbook is some of the greatest music ever written, and Tony Bennett did it better than anyone,” he said.

Tickets are on sale, ranging from $40 – $185 and available online.

Gates open at 5:30pm, with food trucks and beverage tents are available for purchases. Coolers, outside food and outside alcohol are not permitted. The Festival Tent is a smoke free and vape free environment. The event will be held rain or shine and for those choosing lawn seating, that area is outside the tent and requires you bring your own lawn chair.

The concert is part of series of eight performances held during October hosted by the Pawleys Island Festival of Music & Art. PIFMA is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide diverse music, arts and educational events and programs that create cultural experiences that educate, entertain and inspire.
