Rick Shealy Candidate for SC House District 14 to Donate His Entire Legislative Salary to Upstate Pregnancy Center
May 20, 2026Rick Shealy, Republican candidate for South Carolina House District 14, today announced that if elected, he will donate his entire legislative salary to the Upstate Pregnancy Center, a newly established life-affirming resource for women and families in Laurens County.
“I have believed my entire life that every child deserves a chance,” said Shealy. “The Upstate Pregnancy Center in Laurens County is working hard to raise funds for a building and expansion of services for women in need in our community. Putting my salary where my values are is the least I can do.”
Shealy’s commitment to the pro-life cause is longstanding and personal — extending well beyond campaign pledges. For many years, he has supported SC Citizens for Life, Carolina Pregnancy Center and CrossRoads Pregnancy Center through prayer, attendance at events, sponsorships, and financial contributions. His support of the Upstate Pregnancy Center reflects a natural extension of that lifetime of action.
The announcement comes as Shealy contrasts himself sharply with incumbent Rep. Luke Rankin, who received a 31% score from the Club for Growth Foundation — a rating matched or exceeded by six Democratic legislators. Shealy believes that the voters of District 14 deserve a representative whose actions reflect the conservative values of the district.
“Official endorsements from organizations often go only to those already in office — leaving voters without the full picture of who candidates really are,” Shealy noted. “I want the voters of District 14 to judge me by what I have done and what I am willing to do. Donating my salary to the Upstate Pregnancy Center is a statement of who I am.”
