Laurens County Community Raises More Than $18,000 at LCSO Jail and Bail Fundraiser
May 25, 2026The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office is expressing gratitude to the community after this year’s Jail and Bail fundraiser surpassed expectations, raising more than $18,000 for the Christmas for Kids program.
The annual event, held May 22 on the Historic Courthouse Square in downtown Laurens, drew participants, donors, and volunteers together for one of the Sheriff’s Office’s most anticipated fundraisers of the year. Every dollar raised goes directly toward providing Christmas assistance to children across Laurens County.
“Thank you, Laurens County, for supporting our annual Jail and Bail event,” said Chief Deputy Chris Martin. “Because of your generosity, we raised over $18,000 and counting to benefit our Christmas for Kids Program — helping children right here in Laurens County have a brighter Christmas. We are so grateful to everyone who donated, participated, and helped make this event a success. Your support truly makes a difference in our community.”
The LCSO also recognized Tractor Supply in Laurens for providing the “jail cells” used during the event, calling the business’s contribution an example of the local partnerships that make the fundraiser possible.
For the third consecutive year, Laurens County Buzz publisher Brenda Stewart volunteered as a participant, raising more than $1,000 toward the effort.
“This is one of those events that reminds you why you love this community,” Stewart said. “People give generously and joyfully, and knowing that generosity goes directly to children having a better Christmas makes every phone call and every ask completely worth it.”
The Christmas for Kids program provides holiday assistance to hundreds of children in Laurens County each year. Donations to the program are still being accepted. For more information, contact the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office at 864-984-5532.
