Handcrafted in the Heart of Town: No. 3 Pottery Unveils New Walk-In Studio Concept

May 27, 2026

Local art enthusiasts and families looking to spark their creativity this summer have an exciting new destination to explore right in downtown Simpsonville.

The popular local art hub No. 3 Pottery, located at 105 S. Maple Street, has officially announced the launch of its brand-new “Paint and Pottery” studio concept. Beginning Wednesday, June 3, 2026, the functioning pottery studio and retail store will open its doors to walk-in patrons of all ages, transforming a portion of its workspace into an interactive, self-guided creative studio.

The announcement marks a major expansion for the local business, which has long been cherished by Golden Strip residents for its intimate potter’s wheel classes, custom raku workshops, and curated gallery spaces showcasing Upstate artisans.

A Blank Canvas of Bisqueware

The newly minted Paint and Pottery program is designed to remove the barrier to entry for working with ceramics. While traditional clay-throwing sessions require multi-week course enrollments and technical training, this new walk-in option allows anyone to instantly step into the shoes of an artist.

The studio has stocked a massive, wonderful selection of professionally prepared “bisqueware”—unfired, white ceramic pieces ranging from whimsical figurines and seasonal items for children to elegant plates, bowls, and mugs for adults.

Patrons simply choose their favorite piece, sit down at a studio table, and select from a vibrant palette of colorful glazes to paint their own personal masterpiece. Once complete, the dedicated staff handles the technical firing process in the studio’s on-site kilns, curing the glazes into a glossy, durable, and completely food-safe finish ready for pickup.

No Appointments Necessary for Summer Fun

The launch is perfectly timed for the early summer season, providing a brilliant daytime or evening activity for families, youth groups, and couples. To keep the experience as relaxed and accessible as possible, studio organizers emphasize that no prior appointments are necessary.

The walk-in glaze hours will align directly with the studio’s weekly business hours:

  • Wednesday: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM

  • Thursday: 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM

  • Friday & Saturday: 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM

To ensure everyone has ample time to complete their designs without feeling rushed, the studio notes that the last seating for painters will take place 1.5 hours before closing time each day.

Whether you are looking to escape the high afternoon heat with the kids, plan a unique Thursday date night, or handcraft a personalized gift for a loved one, the new tables on Maple Street are ready to help you shape a memory.
