Girl Scouts of South Carolina—Mountains to Midlands calls on community to nominate women leaders for 2026 Boots & Pearls Awards
May 28, 2026Girl Scouts of South Carolina—Mountains to Midlands (GSSC-MM) is calling on the local community to help shine a spotlight on extraordinary women by submitting nominations for the 2026 Boots & Pearls/Women of Distinction Awards.
Since 2013, Boots & Pearls has recognized exceptional women from the Cherokee, Spartanburg, and Union communities who lead with purpose and live out the values of courage, confidence, and character—the foundation of every Girl Scout journey.
This fall tradition is more than a ceremony, it’s a heartfelt celebration of leadership, legacy, and community spirit. Named in honor of Karen H. Mitchell, a beloved volunteer and visionary leader, the award reflects a deep commitment to service that mirrors the spirit of Girl Scout founder Juliette Gordon Low.
Nominations are now open for two honoree categories:
- Community Honoree – Celebrating women who make a lasting impact in the Spartanburg region through leadership and service.
- Young Professional Honoree – Recognizing a current or former Girl Scout who is a young professional living out Girl Scout values in her career and community.
Honorees will be celebrated at the 2026 Boots & Pearls Awards ceremony in Spartanburg, an annual event that brings together business leaders, community partners, and changemakers—all in support of local Girl Scouts and leadership development for girls.
Nominations close Monday, June 15, 2026.
Community members are encouraged to think broadly and nominate women who lead with integrity, uplift others, and serve as powerful role models for girls.

Girl Scouts bring their dreams to life and work together to build a better world. Through programs from coast to coast, Girl Scouts of all backgrounds and abilities can be unapologetically themselves as they discover their strengths and rise to meet new challenges—whether they want to climb to the top of a tree or the top of their class, lace up their boots for a hike or advocate for climate justice, or make their first best friends. Backed by trusted adult volunteers, mentors, and millions of alums, Girl Scouts lead the way as they find their voices and make changes that affect the issues most important to them.
