Lander Salutes Staff Members Who Make a Difference Every Day
May 31, 2026The dedication and behind-the-scenes efforts of Lander University employees were celebrated as the University honored members of its staff with Staff Excellence Awards, recognizing individuals whose commitment and service help shape the daily experience of students, faculty and fellow employees across campus.
The 2026 recipients include:
Hodges was recognized for her efforts to update Open House materials for Lander’s individual programs of study. “Lander has over 90 academic majors, and most of these programs have stand-alone flyers, which had to be re-written and proofed to match Lander’s new style guide … while the workload was at times cumbersome, she took steps to ensure that each program received their updated materials.”
Jenkins was noted for “working closely with our student employees; she helps train them and guide them in library circulation services and ensures that their schedules always work for the students. But she also provides emotional and moral support to the students, she always has an ear to lend and words of encouragement (you should hear the way she lifts up our nursing students through their many difficult and stressful classes and exams).”
Beyond his attitude and warmth, Oliver received recognition for exemplifying “what it means to be an exceptional team player. His genuine care for others, unwavering positivity and dedication to his work make him a truly valued member of the campus community.”
Her work ethic to handle and complete a variety of projects earned praise. ‘Whitney should be recognized for all of her efforts. She is one of the nicest and most hardworking people at Lander. She will take the time to help, even when she is busy.”
Her “outspoken leadership” also was highlighted. “She is never hesitant to raise important questions or propose solutions to better serve the team and students. She exemplifies the highest standards of professionalism and compassion … Her work ethic, leadership and dedication make her deserving of this recognition.”
