Thornwell Launches Summer Meal Program June 1; Expands with TWO Mobile Pickup Locations Beginning June 9

June 1, 2026

Thornwell will officially launch its 2026 Grab N’ Go Summer Meal Program on June 1, providing free breakfast and lunch meal packs for qualifying children throughout the summer. The organization will then expand the program on June 9 by adding TWO new mobile pickup locations to increase accessibility for families across the community.

Beginning June 1, families may pick up daily breakfast and lunches per child Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at:

Thornwell Dining Hall
302 South Broad Street
Clinton, SC 29325

Starting June 9, the following mobile pickup locations will begin service:

Lydia Mill Mobile Pickup Location — Tuesdays | 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
United Way Building
16 Peachtree Street
Clinton, SC 29325

Thornwell Charter School East Campus Mobile Pickup — Thursdays | 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
600 E. Florida Street
Clinton, SC 29325

The mobile pickup program allows parents and guardians to receive seven days’ worth of breakfast and lunch meals for qualifying children in their household during each pickup visit.

This phased launch allows us to begin serving families immediately while expanding our reach deeper into the community just one week later,” said Alice James, Thornwell Director of Child Nutrition. “The addition of two mobile pickup sites represents a major step forward in helping remove barriers to food access during the summer months.”

Since 2020, Thornwell’s Grab N’ Go Summer Meal Program has served more than 200,000 meals to children and families experiencing food insecurity while school is out for the summer. By introducing mobile pickup locations, Thornwell hopes to make participation more convenient for families who may have difficulty traveling to the main campus daily.
