Trinity Cathedral announces $1 million Jubilee grant fund
June 1, 2026Trinity Episcopal Cathedral plans to award $1 million in grant funds over the next 10 years to non-profit organizations doing new or expanded work in the areas of homelessness, justice, education, or health.
“In 2027, our parish will celebrate our 50th anniversary as the Cathedral of the Episcopal Diocese of Upper South Carolina,” said Bill Matthews, senior warden of the parish. “This grant fund is inspired by the Biblical vision of jubilee, which calls for gratitude, restoration and generosity. Our hope is that these grants will be transformative and address a pressing issue in our community.”
One or more grants totaling $100,000 or more will be awarded each year, beginning in May 2027. Over 10 years, the fund will disperse a total of $1 million to support one or more non-profit organizations serving historically marginalized populations in the Midlands of South Carolina.
“The Jubilee grant fund represents Trinity’s commitment to restoration, dignity and community flourishing,” said parishioner Anne Miller, chair of Trinity’s Faith in Action committee, which is administering the grants. “We are seeking partners whose work reflects this vision.”
The grant program seeks to continue a long history of mission and outreach work at Trinity Cathedral. Trinity established the Trinity Housing Corporation in 1989, which grew into the independent non-profit Homeless No More.
“Our parishioners give generously of their time and financial resources, which has allowed us to identify a community need and provide long-term systemic assistance,” Matthews said. “We hope and pray that the Jubilee grant fund can be similarly transformative for our community.”
Interested non-profit organizations are invited to submit a letter of intent by July 15, 2026. Applicants whose letters of intent are selected to submit a full proposal will be notified by September 1, 2026. The first round of funding will be awarded in May 2027.
