Boeing invests $100,000 in workforce development opportunities for CCSD students

June 2, 2026

During the 2025-2026 school year, Boeing invested $100,000 to expand Charleston County School District (CCSD) students’ access to career exploration field trips and career discovery camps focused on high-demand advanced manufacturing professions in the Charleston region.

The funding enabled more than 700 students from 16 CCSD middle and high schools to visit advanced manufacturing sites, including Boeing, Mercedes-Benz Vans, Cummins, and XscapeWorks, a local firm that designs and manufactures escape rooms for clients throughout the country. Each field trip provided students with a behind-the-scenes look at the essential parts of a modern advanced manufacturing facility.

The Boeing funds are also supporting six advanced manufacturing-themed career camps this upcoming summer. Each week-long camp will include hands-on projects and field trips to local manufacturers. Limited spots remain available for rising CCSD eighth and ninth graders to join these camps:

“This investment from Boeing creates meaningful opportunities for our students to see what is possible for their futures,” said Chad

Vail, CCSD’s Work-based Learning Partnerships Coordinator. “By connecting classroom learning to real-world careers and experiences, students gain confidence, inspiration, and a clearer understanding of the exciting options available to them right here in our local community.”

Students participating in the program will engage in immersive, hands-on learning opportunities, interact with industry professionals, and explore modern manufacturing environments. The experiences are designed to help students better understand future career possibilities while building excitement around science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.
