City of Laurens Seeks Applicants for Planning, Zoning, and Historic Preservation Boards
June 8, 2026The City of Laurens is accepting applications for open positions on three advisory boards: the Planning Commission, the Board of Zoning Appeals, and the Historic Preservation Commission.
The three boards play key roles in shaping the city’s future. The Planning Commission makes recommendations to City Council on zoning and annexation requests, overlay district expansions, Comprehensive Plan updates, and subdivision approvals. The board has five members and meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 3 p.m. at the City of Laurens Police Training Room, 250 W. Laurens St.
The Board of Zoning Appeals and Historic Preservation Commission address land use decisions and efforts to protect the city’s historical character, respectively.
City officials say the boards are essential to fair, thoughtful decision-making on development and preservation issues across Laurens.
