SJWD Water District launches new customer notification system
June 10, 2026The Startex-Jackson-Wellford-Duncan Water District (SJWD) announced the launch of a new customer notification system that will provide real-time updates about service disruptions, advisories, and other important water system events. Constructed with Everbridge, a national leader in emergency alert systems, the new system will allow SJWD to communicate important information directly to customers via text, email, and an online outage map.
“Hurricane Helene reinforced the importance of timely and reliable emergency communication,” said Billy Cothran, SJWD Water District CEO. “In response, and with the benefit of customer feedback, our team developed a one-of-a-kind system for water utilities in Spartanburg County that enables us to quickly and accurately inform customers about situations affecting their water service.”
The new system will allow SJWD to send targeted boil water advisories, boil water notices, and other important service alerts by text message or email using contact information associated with a customer’s account. Customers are encouraged to make sure the contact information associated with their SJWD account is up to date by contacting us at [email protected]m.
