Local Community Partners Support Outfitting New Trailer

Dorchester County Fire Rescue Special Operations has placed a new Special Ops trailer, STR-1, into service, significantly enhancing the County’s ability to respond to swift water rescues and other life-threatening emergencies. It will serve as a Mobile Command Center, Rehab Unit, specialized equipment transport, and deployment housing for Special Ops personnel.

On June 9, local business, Paul Davis Restoration, donated and delivered a new inverter generator; a full kit of battery powered saws, tools, and lighting; heavy duty equipment storage containers; a pallet of bottled water; and an electric jack.  The business also previously donated 25 new NRS Tactyl Water Rescue Helmets along with 25 Princeton Tec Vizz II headlamps for Special Ops personnel, to further the emergency response of the Special Operations team.

While the trailer was purchased by Dorchester County Fire Rescue, several community partners contributed to outfitting the trailer with decals, lettering, and additional equipment including Edisto River Adventures, Identity Graphics, Coastal Coffee Roasters, ServiceMaster Restore, and Sanders Tree Service.

“We are grateful for the generosity of our local business community, whose support helps strengthen this critical emergency response asset,” said Dorchester County Battalion Chief Hans Button. “Their contributions not only enhance the capabilities of our Special Operations team but ultimately support community members during some of their most challenging moments.”

The new trailer features a full bathroom and shower, exterior decontamination shower, command / media center, bunk beds and bench seating, specialized equipment storage, and added height and width for increased workspace.

These enhancements strengthen the Special Operations team’s ability to respond safely, effectively, and efficiently when the community needs this support the most.
