AmbioPharm, Inc., a peptide manufacturer and developer headquartered in North Augusta, announced plans to expand its operations in Aiken County with a $118.96 million investment that is expected to create 202 new jobs.

Founded in 2005, AmbioPharm specializes in developing and manufacturing peptide-based active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) for pharmaceutical clients around the world. The company produces new chemical entities and peptide APIs under current good manufacturing practice regulations and serves customers ranging from early-stage development to commercial-scale production.

The expansion will include the construction of a new modular manufacturing building at the company’s existing campus located at 1024 Dittman Court in North Augusta.

According to the company, the new facility will provide commercial-scale GMP manufacturing capabilities and support a range of peptide production methods, including solid-phase peptide synthesis, liquid-phase peptide synthesis and hybrid manufacturing approaches. The facility will also feature semi-automated production systems and advanced solvent delivery infrastructure designed to increase manufacturing efficiency and capacity.

Operations at the expanded facility are expected to begin by the end of 2027.

“As the global demand for peptide therapeutics accelerates, the need for dependable U.S. manufacturing is extremely important. This expansion enhances our ability to support our client-partners with scalable, high-quality production while creating new opportunities for skilled talent in Aiken County,” said AmbioPharm CEO Brian Gregg.
