Laurens County Museum to Open Jorge Rubio-Perez Art Show on Carolina Day
June 16, 2026The Laurens County Museum will open a new Revolutionary War art exhibit featuring the work of artist Jorge Rubio-Perez on Sunday, June 28, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony set for 5 p.m.
The opening coincides with Carolina Day, the annual observance commemorating the June 28, 1776, American victory at the Battle of Sullivan’s Island near Charleston, an early turning point in South Carolina’s fight for independence.
The exhibit features 12 original pieces in which Rubio-Perez interprets the people, battles and spirit of the Revolutionary War in Laurens County. The collection blends history and imagination, inviting viewers to experience the struggle for independence through a modern artistic lens.
Visitors are invited to attend the ribbon-cutting and take time to enjoy the artwork inspired by the American Revolution. The museum is located at 116 S. Public Square in Laurens.
