The Four Freedoms: Long Bay Symphony celebrates America’s 250th with candlelight concert
June 16, 2026As the nation approaches its historic semiquincentennial, the Long Bay Symphony is set to launch a stirring musical tribute that bridges American history, art, and sonic brilliance. On June 26th, the Long Bay Symphony Brass Quintet will take the stage at Georgetown’s historic Winyah Auditorium for a special candlelight performance titled The Four Freedoms: A250 Candlelight Concert.
The evening’s centerpiece is a beautiful, evocative work inspired directly by Norman Rockwell’s iconic World War II-era paintings: Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Worship, Freedom from Want, and Freedom from Fear. First published in 1943, Rockwell’s masterpieces captured the core tenets of American democracy, and this musical translation promises to bring that same warmth, depth, and resilience to life through the powerful medium of chamber brass.
Set against the intimate, atmospheric backdrop of a candlelit Winyah Auditorium—one of Georgetown’s most treasured and acoustically resonant spaces—the program will seamlessly blend these artistic interpretations with a curated selection of patriotic favorites and American classics.
The performance is designed to connect, entertain, and educate patrons of all ages by bringing world-class talent directly to the Grand Strand community. By merging historical significance with live chamber music, the evening offers an opportunity for shared reflection and celebration as the community honors 250 years of the American spirit.
Whether you are a lifelong resident of the Grand Strand or a visitor looking to experience local culture at its finest, The Four Freedoms offers a rare, immersive opportunity to experience the sounds of freedom in an unforgettable setting.
Tickets are $45 and available for sale online: Long Bay Symphony Ticket Information page.
