History, community, and celebration meet: The Kaminski House prepares for America’s 250th in Georgetown

This historic festival honors South Carolina’s monumental role in the American Revolution and commemorates the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Sullivan’s Island.
At the center of these community-wide festivities is the historic Kaminski House Museum, which will host three highly anticipated events on its beautiful waterfront grounds. Here is your guide to what is coming to the Kaminski House as part of the Carolina Days observance:
1. Explore Georgetown

The celebration at the Kaminski House kicks off with an opportunity for locals and visitors alike to dive deep into the area’s rich revolutionary history. Explore Georgetown serves as an immersive gateway to the past, offering specialized programming designed to highlight the city’s unique historical footprint. It is an affordable, family-friendly way to step back in time and discover the stories that shaped the region 250 years ago.
10:00 am – 4:00 pm – Spend a day exploring Georgetown County’s museums and historic sites to learn about the history, stories, and people that helped shape the American Revolution. Special programs and discounted admission will be offered. See event details for the list of participating venues.
2. Carolina Kids Day: History, Storytelling, and a Fox Hunt

The festivities continue the following morning with an event dedicated entirely to the younger generation of history buffs. Carolina Kids Day blends education with interactive fun, featuring hands-on historical activities, vibrant Gullah storytelling, and appearances by local community partners to keep the kids engaged.
The undisputed highlight of the morning will be the official ribbon-cutting of the “Foxes on Front” Fox Hunt. Organized in partnership with the DAR, Colonial Dames, and the Georgetown County 250 Committee, this permanent, inaugural scavenger hunt is named in honor of General Francis Marion—the legendary “Swamp Fox.” It promises to give families a fun, active new way to explore historic Front Street for years to come.
3. The 30th Annual 4th of July Concert on the Lawn & Fireworks

There is perhaps no more picturesque place to celebrate Independence Day than on the sweeping lawn of the Kaminski House. To crown the nation’s 250th birthday, the museum will host its milestone 30th Annual 4th of July Concert on the Lawn.
The evening features a stirring, patriotic performance by the beloved Indigo Choral Society. Attendees are encouraged to bring their favorite lawn chairs, blankets, and picnic snacks to camp out on the grounds and enjoy the music.
After the concert, guests can remain on the lawn or make their way to the nearby Harborwalk to witness a spectacular fireworks display over the Georgetown Harbor. Directed by the Georgetown City Fire Department, the fireworks will launch from Morgan Park at approximately 9:30 p.m., capping off a historic Independence Day.
