New Capri’s Location Confirms Upcoming Grand Opening in Simpsonville
June 22, 2026Italian food lovers in the Upstate have a new dining destination to look forward to this week, as Capri’s finalizes preparations for its highly anticipated grand opening in Simpsonville.
The new restaurant is officially expected to open its doors to the public on Wednesday, June 24, 2026.
To celebrate the arrival, promotional campaigns have launched across local social media networks. As part of the grand opening push, the restaurant is hosting a digital giveaway, offering community members a chance to win a $100 gift card ahead of the launch.
The exterior of the new establishment features a dedicated “To-Go” window and outdoor patio seating, designed to accommodate both dine-in guests and patrons looking for convenient takeout options.
A Deep-Rooted Upstate Tradition
The expansion adds another chapter to a brand with a deeply rooted history in the Upstate region. The story of Capri’s dates back to the post-World War II era, when founder Julius N. “Cap” Capri, originally from Pennsylvania, settled in South Carolina after supervising mechanics at the Greenville Army Air Base.
During his service, his wife—affectionately remembered as Mama Capri—began baking weekly pizzas out of her kitchen for northern servicemen stationed at the base. The overwhelming demand eventually inspired the family to open their first official brick-and-mortar location: a cozy log cabin restaurant on Augusta Road in Greenville.
Over the decades, Capri’s grew from that single cabin into a beloved regional staple, with multiple independently operated franchise locations opening across Upstate communities—including Greenville, Greer, Easley, Woodruff, and Boiling Springs.
What Diners Can Expect
While individual Capri’s locations operate independently, the brand has maintained a legacy for serving timeless, comforting Italian favorites. The Simpsonville location is expected to carry on these culinary traditions.
Upstate diners typically flock to Capri’s for its signature staples, which include:
-
The Famous Antipasto Salad: A house favorite frequently cited by long-time patrons as a mandatory start to any meal at the restaurant.
-
Classic Baked Pastas: Hearty portions of traditional comfort dishes, including layered house-made lasagna, baked spaghetti, and bread crumb-dusted fried ravioli.
-
Pizza and Specialty Entrées: Ranging from classic, thick-cheese pizzas to specialized chicken parmesan and seafood dishes.
With its dedicated outdoor patio and convenient drive-up “To-Go” infrastructure, the new Simpsonville branch is uniquely built to blend the brand’s classic, sit-down hospitality with modern, fast-casual convenience for busy families in the Golden Strip area.
