City of Georgetown to host CDBG community needs assessment meeting on July 14
June 30, 2026The City of Georgetown invites all residents to attend a public Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Needs Assessment meeting on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 6:00 pm in the Conference Room at the Waccamaw Regional Council of Governments, located at 1230 Highmarket St., Georgetown, SC 29440.
Purpose of the Meeting
The purpose of this assessment is to gather vital resident feedback on potential community development activities that may qualify for funding under the South Carolina CDBG State Program. The program’s primary focus is a competitive grant process designed to benefit low- and moderate-income (LMI) individuals and neighborhoods.
What Will Be Discussed
City officials and administrators will seek community input on eligible CDBG concepts, which include:
Infrastructure: Water, sewer, and drainage improvements.
Accessibility: Public facility upgrades to improve service and accessibility to residents.
Community & Housing: Improvements to community facilities, neighborhood public services, and limited housing-related activities (such as demolition and private property water/sewer connections).
Planning: Future community planning and engagement initiatives.
Why Your Voice Matters
All feedback gathered during this meeting will directly support the development of the community’s immediate needs assessment and shape potential grant applications.
This meeting is strictly focused on the CDBG grant program and is separate from the City’s Comprehensive Plan or capital improvement planning. Residents are highly encouraged to bring project ideas specifically related to eligible CDBG activities.
All submitted input will be carefully reviewed for eligibility, feasibility, and competitiveness under South Carolina CDBG program guidelines.
