American Legion Post 25 to Welcome Nation of Patriots Tour Flag, Community Invited to Take Part
July 1, 2026American Legion Post 25 will welcome a single American flag traveling across all 50 states this Independence Day weekend, and the community is invited to be part of the celebration.
The flag is part of the Nation of Patriots Patriot Tour, a 115 day relay carried by American Legion and VFW Riders to honor military service members, veterans and their families. Laurens County is among the stops along the route, and Post 25 has been asked to take part in carrying the flag on its journey.
The flag will arrive at American Legion Post 25, located at 19 Choctaw Street in Laurens, around noon on Friday, July 3. A ceremony will be held at that time to mark the handoff, and members of the public are welcome to attend and show their support.
“It is an honor for Post 25 to carry this flag as part of such a meaningful tribute to our veterans and their families,” said Kevin Farnsworth, Post Commander. “We invite the entire community to stand with us, attend the ceremony and join us on the Public Square. This is a moment for all of us to come together and show our gratitude for those who have served.”
Around 4 p.m. that same day, the flag will be transported to the Public Square in Laurens, where it will be presented to the City of Laurens and displayed for the community until sunset. Residents are encouraged to visit the square, take in the display and reflect on the meaning behind the colors.
On the morning of Saturday, July 4, members of Post 25 will transport the flag to American Legion Post 26 in Aiken, South Carolina, where it will be passed along toward a post in Georgia as the relay continues across the country.
The Patriot Tour serves to unite Americans beneath the nation’s flag and behind the men and women who stand ready to defend it. Funds raised throughout the journey support veterans and their families, and at the conclusion of the tour the flag is retired in a ceremonial tribute.
Organizers emphasize that everyone is welcome to participate by attending a stop and joining in. Community members are invited to line the route, attend the ceremony at Post 25 and visit the flag on the Public Square as Laurens County honors those who have served.
