Under limited supervision from the Director of Landscape Services, is responsible for the preparation, maintenance, and beautification of University properties. Landscape technician at the University of South Carolina Upstate Main Campus, Perimeter Roadways, and parking lots. On occasion, will assist the Building Maintenance crew and with setups.
• Mow and trim grass including close mowing.
• Plant, water, fertilize shrubs, flowers, trees, etc.
• Weed both mechanically and chemically.
• Maintain campus fountains.
• Pick up and remove litter, leaves, debris.
• Prune and trim trees and shrubs.
• Perform basic exterior building and irrigation maintenance.
• Perform maintenance on grounds equipment.
• Remove snow and ice from walks and roads
Minimum Required Education and Experience: Typically holds a high school diploma or GED. Requires 1 or more years of job-related experience. A valid driver’s license and good driving record required. A successful background check is required.
Preferred Qualifications: High school diploma and 3 years’ landscaping experience. Prefer Master Gardener Certificate or equivalent, 3-5 years’ experience, horticulture vocational certificate, tech graduate and pesticide applicator license.
Salary Range: $36,608 – $40,711; Salary commensurate with education and experience.
Work Schedule: Generally, works 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. May have to work extended hours or weekend hours to support University activities. Exact work hours may be modified for seasonal patterns.
