MYRTLE BEACH, SC – Habitat for Humanity of Horry County and Bank of America recently marked two milestones in their longstanding partnership: a volunteer build day and a spring homebuyer dedication ceremony.
Milestones Worth Celebrating
Nine Bank of America teammates worked together in Conway, SC to frame a new construction home and install roof trusses, bringing shape to the structure and transforming it into something that resembles a future home.
The BofA volunteers’ hard work moved construction forward and brought the home one step closer to welcoming a deserving family. The home is anticipated to be completed later this summer. The build day represents the kind of direct, hands-on partnership that has defined the two organizations’ relationship for years.
Earlier this spring, Habitat of Horry County and BofA celebrated homebuyer Samantha’s achievement of affordable homeownership with a home dedication ceremony. Samantha was an active participant in Bank of America’s ‘Better Money Habits’ (https://bettermoneyhabits.bankofamerica.com) financial literacy programming, engaging with the program both before and after moving into her new home.
“Samantha’s dedication day is what this work is all about. She put in the effort, built her financial foundation, and earned her home. Partnerships like the one we have with Bank of America in the classroom and on the jobsite make more of these moments possible for families across Horry County.” Meagan Michal, Executive Director, Habitat for Humanity of Horry County.
Financial Education That Carries Forward
Bank of America conducts regular ‘Better Money Habits’ workshops with Habitat of Horry County homebuyers as part of the bank’s broader commitment to financial education and economic opportunity. The program provides free resources on budgeting, saving, credit, and long-term financial planning.
With every Habitat home, the homeowner works toward ownership by saving closing costs, paying down debt, and building the financial habits that support long-term independence. To Habitat for Humanity of Horry County, that is mission fulfillment.
A Partnership Rooted in the Community
The multifaceted relationship between BofA and Habitat for Humanity of Horry County spans grant funding, regular financial education, and recurring volunteer service. In December 2020, Habitat for Humanity of Horry County was named a Bank of America Neighborhood Champion to advance the organization’s neighborhood revitalization work. 2026 also marks BofA’s 40th year supporting Habitat for Humanity nationwide.
“Homeownership creates pathways to economic opportunity and supports strong communities. In the Grand Strand, we at Bank of America get to help families achieve those goals. Our team is educating a family about their finances, showing up to frame their walls, and welcoming that family to thrive in their own home and in the community.” Christine Williams, President, Bank of America Myrtle Beach.
