Barbecue, Beverages and Ice Cream Await Riders at Flight of the Dove Aug. 1

July 15, 2026

Cyclists who cross the finish line at the Flight of the Dove benefit ride next month will find a barbecue lunch waiting for them.

Organizers have announced the food lineup for the Aug. 1 ride at Presbyterian College’s Bailey Memorial Stadium in Clinton. Ernie Whiteford of Whiteford’s Catering will prepare barbecue for riders and volunteers after the ride, The Lumberyard will pour beverages, and The Front Porch Churn will serve ice cream.

The ride rolls out at 8 a.m. from the stadium on State Road S-30-71, with routes of 14, 30, 50 and 62 miles. E-bikes are allowed on all four.

Organizers also detailed the support riders will find along the way. Five rest stops stocked with refreshments, snacks and volunteers will be spaced along the routes, and two SAG (support and gear) vehicles will patrol the course to help with mechanical trouble, transportation and other unexpected needs. Riders from three local motorcycle groups will ride along to help monitor the routes and keep an extra set of eyes on cyclists, and an EMT vehicle will be stationed at the start and finish line throughout the event.

Whether a rider is taking on a first Flight of the Dove or returning for another year, organizers said, a support team will be there every mile.

Proceeds benefit VIA Health Partners-Laurens, the area’s leading hospice and palliative care organization, which serves patients facing life-limiting illness across the Upstate and Midlands regardless of medical complexity or ability to pay.

Registration remains open at viagiving.org/flight-of-the-dove. For more information, contact Nancy Cole, director of special events, at 704-335-4312 or [email protected].
