Beaufort Rosemary selects Kershaw County for energy infrastructure investment

$900 million in investment will create 15 new jobs

BRNG LLC, with its affiliate Beaufort Rosemary, a greenfield energy project developer, has selected Kershaw County for a $900 million investment to develop a state-of-the-art energy generation facility designed to strengthen electric grid reliability, support South Carolina’s continued growth, and enhance the region’s long-term economic competitiveness. The project is expected to create 15 permanent jobs, with operations anticipated to begin during the second quarter of 2028.

Located strategically between the Charlotte and Columbia metropolitan areas, the site offers exceptional access to critical infrastructure, including multiple natural gas transmission pipelines, propane pipeline connectivity, high-voltage electric transmission, rail service, interstate access, and the opportunity for future fiber connectivity.

Once operational, the facility will play an important role in supporting South Carolina’s growing energy needs while increasing grid resilience during periods of peak demand or emergency conditions. The plant’s dual-fuel design will allow it to operate using propane if natural gas service is disrupted, helping maintain electric reliability while preserving natural gas supplies for other critical uses.

The facility is expected to incorporate black start capability, allowing it to generate electricity independently following a widespread grid outage. This specialized capability can help accelerate power restoration during major emergency events and improve overall system resilience.

“We are thrilled to welcome Beaufort Rosemary to Kershaw County as they commit to powering the community with $900 million in capital investment and the creation of 15 new, well-paying jobs,” said Central SC Alliance Chairman Tushar Chikhliker. “This project not only represents a significant capital investment but strengthens the foundation that allows existing businesses to expand, new industries to invest with confidence, and residents to benefit from a more reliable electric grid.”
