Georgetown County 250 to honor Time Capsule essay contest winners at July 20 ceremony

July 16, 2026

Georgetown County, in partnership with the Friends of the Georgetown Library (FOGL) and Georgetown 250, invites the public to celebrate the community’s youth at the upcoming Essay Contest Winners Recognition Ceremony. The event will take place on Monday, July 20, 2026, at 3:30 pm in the Georgetown Library Auditorium, located at 440 Cleland St., Georgetown.

The ceremony will recognize the talented young writers who participated in the Time Capsule Essay Contest, which asked local students to reflect on the prompt: “What do you hope has changed—or stayed the same—by 2076?” Winning students will be presented with their prizes during the event.

A highlight of the afternoon will feature First Place Winner Mikalyn Holmes, who will read her winning essay aloud to the audience.
