Grand Strand Health celebrates grand opening of Murrells Inlet ER

July 16, 2026

The local community gathered on Wednesday evening, July 15 to celebrate a major milestone in regional healthcare as Grand Strand Health hosted the official ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house for the new Murrells Inlet ER.

The event drew an enthusiastic crowd of more than 150 community members, local business leaders, and Grand Strand team members eager to catch a firsthand look at the state-of-the-art facility before its official opening this morning.

Celebrating Community and Growth

The evening kicked off with special remarks highlighting the impact the new facility will have on the Hammock Coast. Beth Stedman, CEO of the Georgetown County  Chamber of Commerce, spoke to the strong community and business support surrounding the project, emphasizing how vital accessible emergency services are to the area’s continued growth.

“We are excited to welcome the community into our new facility and celebrate this important milestone together”, said Lauren Davis, Chief Operating Officer of Grand Strand Health. “Murrells Inlet ER was designed to provide convenient access to high-quality emergency care close to home, and we look forward to serving the residents and visitors of Georgetown County for years to come.”

An Evening of Health, Education, and Free Hammocks

Following the official ribbon cutting, guests explored the new emergency department through guided tours led by the care team. The event perfectly blended community celebration with public health, offering attendees:

  • Interactive Stop the Bleed demonstrations
  • Free health screenings, including blood pressure checks
  • Crucial fall prevention education
  • Complimentary food and beverages

As a unique token of appreciation, the first 100 attendees walked away with a complimentary hammock—a perfect nod to the ER’s new home on the Hammock Coast.
