G3 Engineering & Surveying launches Professional Drone Division to elevate project services across the Southeast

July 21, 2026

G3 Engineering & Surveying has launched a new Professional Drone Division, expanding the firm’s engineering, surveying and construction capabilities with aerial mapping, site documentation, inspections and project intelligence services for clients throughout the Southeast.

The new division reflects the growing use of drone technology across engineering and construction industries, where aerial data is helping project teams improve efficiency, increase safety, and make more informed decisions throughout every phase of development.

Recent industry data values the global civil drone market at $12.85 billion in 2025 and projects it to reach $38.72 billion by 2033, a compound annual growth rate of 14.8%. That growth is being fueled by companies increasingly relying on unmanned aerial systems for mapping, inspections, and construction management.

G3’s Professional Drone Division provides clients with drone services that integrate directly into the firm’s existing engineering, surveying and construction operations.

“Our clients expect timely, accurate information that helps keep projects moving,” said Will Schexnayder, Construction Field Coordinator and FAA-licensed Drone Pilot for G3 Engineering & Surveying. “Drone technology allows us to capture detailed site data quickly while improving safety and providing information that helps owners, engineers, and contractors make better decisions throughout the life of a project.”

The new division offers a range of services, including:

  • Construction progress monitoring and documentation
  • Existing conditions and pre-construction site documentation
  • High-resolution aerial photography and videography
  • Orthomosaic mapping
  • 3D modeling and digital site visualization
  • Volumetric calculations for stockpiles and earthwork
  • Roof and infrastructure documentation
  • Construction safety documentation
  • As-built project documentation
  • Commercial property marketing imagery

“Drones have become an important tool for our industry because they provide a level of speed, accuracy and visibility that wasn’t possible just a few years ago,” Schexnayder said. “Whether we’re documenting existing conditions, monitoring construction progress, or creating detailed mapping for engineers and developers, the information we’re able to provide helps clients make informed decisions faster.”

The Professional Drone Division complements G3’s full-service approach to land development projects, allowing clients to work with a single firm from initial site evaluation and due diligence through engineering, surveying, permitting, construction administration, and ongoing project documentation.

Headquartered in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, G3 Engineering & Surveying provides civil engineering, land surveying, landscape architecture, planning, construction administration, and drone services throughout South Carolina, North Carolina and the entire Southeast region.
