Mashrur “Ronnie” Chowdhury of Clemson University has received the American Road & Transportation Builders Association’s S.S. Steinberg Award in recognition of his remarkable contributions to transportation education.
Chowdhury, the Eugene Douglas Mays Chair of Transportation, is a nationally and internationally recognized leader in intelligent transportation systems, cybersecurity, and connected and automated mobility.
He is the founding director of two U.S. Department of Transportation-sponsored centers: the National Center for Transportation Cybersecurity and Resiliency and the Center for Connected Multimodal Mobility.
Chowdhury’s work has helped move transportation research from emerging ideas to real-world systems that are safer, more secure and more connected.
He has also made significant contributions as a teacher and mentor, helping prepare the next generation of transportation professionals through his work with undergraduates, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
