City of Georgetown adds part-time social media consultant during communications transition
July 29, 2026The City of Georgetown has hired Mikayla Moskov as a part-time contractor to develop social media content and support public outreach while the city searches for a full-time public information officer.
Moskov will help fill the role after Cindy Thompson resigned earlier this month. Other city staff members will handle traditional public information duties, including records management and media relations, until the position is filled.
In addition to developing social media content, Moskov will advise city leaders on ways to expand public outreach and engagement, with a focus on making important information easier for residents to access.
Mikayla Moskov
Moskov has more than a decade of experience in local government communications. She previously worked in journalism, covering major issues in the Lowcountry. She holds a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Arts from Texas A&M University.
She also completed FEMA’s Master/Executive Public Information Officer program, FBI-LEEDA’s Master Public Information Officer certification program and earned the public information officer designation from the Center of Public Safety Excellence, among the field’s highest credentials.
Mayor Jay Doyle said Moskov’s education, experience and integrity will help the city communicate clearly with residents and visitors during the transition.
Doyle said the city also plans to share more information about new and developing programs, including efforts to manage utility costs and help residents weatherize their homes.
