ROCK HILL, SC – The South Carolina Department of Commerce announced that final approvals have been completed for biopharmaceutical manufacturer Octapharma‘s first U.S. manufacturing and production facility, paving the way for a $1.5 billion investment in York County that is expected to create more than 1,500 jobs.

The facility will be located in Rock Hill’s Palmetto Research Park and will include an administrative campus supporting the company’s plasma donation operations. The project further expands South Carolina’s growing life sciences sector.

Headquartered in Lachen, Switzerland, Octapharma develops and produces medicines based on proteins derived from human plasma and human cell lines. Founded in 1983, the company operates more than 40 manufacturing and office sites worldwide, including production facilities in Austria, France, Germany and Sweden.

Operations at the Rock Hill facility are expected to begin in the mid-2030s. Information about employment opportunities will be available through Octapharma’s careers page as the project moves forward.
