City of Charleston launches survey to gather community input on tourism management
July 30, 2026This week, the City of Charleston launched a community survey as part of its ongoing overhaul of the City’s Tourism Management Plan, last comprehensively updated in 2015. The survey will be live until October 8th and asks residents to share feedback on topics like City services, communication, and quality of life.
The launch follows the City’s work with Bloomberg Associates, a pro bono municipal consultancy that reviewed best practices, analyzed data, and interviewed more than 70 community stakeholders to develop recommendations for the plan.
The reimagined plan has officially been named “The Charleston Standard,” a name selected in part through resident input.
Residents are encouraged to complete the survey HERE. It takes about 12 minutes and provides an opportunity to share valuable feedback.
Community meetings will follow later this year, with the plan expected to be finalized by the end of the year. More information on The Charleston Standard and Bloomberg Associates’ recommendations is available HERE.
As part of the Peninsula Plan Open Studio sessions, there will be 3 dates with a focus on Tourism Management and the new Charleston Standard plan. Our Livability and Tourism staff will be at each session from 3-6pm to share updates, answer questions, and provide feedback. Those dates are as follows:
- September 24
- October 1
- October 8
Residents are encouraged to follow the City of Charleston on social media and subscribe to the City newsletter for project updates, engagement opportunities, and ways to provide feedback throughout the process.
