July 30, 2026Four-legged swimmers are invited to make a splash after waterpark season ends
The dogs are getting the waterparks all to themselves once again! Charleston County Parks’ annual Dog Day Afternoon returns this August and September, inviting canine guests to enjoy one last swim of the season at Splash Island, Splash Zone and Whirlin’ Waters Adventure Waterpark after the parks close for regular operations.
Each event features two timed sessions – from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. or 1 – 3 p.m. – where dogs can enjoy the pools, splash features and lazy rivers while spending time with their owners.
Dates at each park are:
– Aug. 15 at Splash Island Waterpark (Mount Pleasant)
– Aug. 15 at Splash Zone Waterpark (James Island)
– Sept. 13 at Whirlin’ Waters Adventure Waterpark (North Charleston)
Once inside the waterpark, dogs are welcome to roam off leash, though owners are responsible for supervising their pets at all times.
