A Combined Century of Community Service Unites to Shape the Future of Lexington County

Mission Lexington announced a significant contribution from the Hoover family toward the Mission on the Move Building Campaign — a transformational initiative to develop a new facility that will allow the organization to deepen its reach and impact across Lexington County for generations to come. This generous gift accelerates the campaign’s timeline and moves Mission Lexington meaningfully closer to breaking ground on a home built to serve.

The Hoover family’s story is one of vision, hard work, and deep roots in South Carolina. Brothers Ted and Ron Hoover were born and raised in Orangeburg County. With an entrepreneurial spirit, they founded Hoover Building Systems in 1972 on a three-acre site in Lexington, SC. Over the past 54 years, Hoover Building Systems has grown into a trusted name in the region, a company built on integrity, quality craftsmanship, and service to its customers and community.

Now more than five decades in, the Hoover family carries forward a legacy shaped not only by business success, but by a heartfelt desire to give back. Their contribution to the Mission on the Move Campaign reflects the conviction that those who have been blessed are called to be a blessing, especially for neighbors facing hardship right here at home in Lexington County.

The convergence of these two community institutions is historic in its own right. Hoover Building Systems has served Lexington County for 54 years. Mission Lexington has served Lexington County for 48. Together, they represent more than a century of commitment to this place and its people. What was once parallel service has now become a shared mission — and that partnership promises to make a lasting difference for families in need for decades to come.

“We are deeply grateful to the Hoover family for this extraordinary act of generosity. Their gift is more than a financial contribution; it is an investment in the future of this community and a testament to what is possible when people who love Lexington County stand together. This moves us forward in a real and tangible way, and we are honored to carry their family’s legacy into the next chapter of Mission Lexington.” — Amy Reeves, CEO, Mission Lexington

The Mission on the Move Campaign represents Mission Lexington’s most ambitious undertaking since the organization was founded in 1978. The campaign is focused on developing a new, expanded facility that will allow Mission Lexington to better serve the growing needs of Lexington County, from emergency assistance and utility support to food access and community programs. The Hoover family’s contribution is a significant milestone in that journey, and leadership notes it will help accelerate both the construction timeline and the organization’s overall development strategy.

As Mission Lexington continues its work of meeting critical needs and restoring dignity to those who walk through its doors, the Hoover family’s contribution will stand as a cornerstone of that effort, a family legacy woven permanently into the story of this community.
