Osprey Village To Break Ground On Residential Community For Individuals With Intellectual Disabilities

Osprey Village will host a groundbreaking ceremony at 9 a.m. Aug. 13 for a new residential community for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). The first phase of the development will include 94 cottage-style, privately owned residences; a community center; and a job training center. The 25-acre community will be located on East Argent Parkway in Hardeeville, one mile from S.C. 170, with convenient access to Bluffton, Hilton Head Island and Beaufort.
“After 18 years of planning and fundraising, it’s a huge accomplishment to break ground on a safe, nurturing community designed specifically for individuals with intellectual disabilities who aspire to greater independence and want to engage and contribute meaningfully to our community,” said Rick Wedge, chair of the Osprey Village board. “Residents of Osprey Village can lead fulfilling, purpose-driven lives with the right blend of independence and daily support.”

The cottages in phase one feature one and two-bedroom floor plans in duplex and quadplex configurations, providing accessible, private and comfortable living spaces. Residents will receive supportive services designed to foster independence, confidence and connection, including transportation and daily check-ins from support staff.
Northstar is serving as project manager, Hill Construction is the general contractor, and Foley Design Associates is the project architect. Vertical construction of 45 cottages is scheduled to begin in December 2026. Residents are anticipated to move into their new homes by summer 2027.
