Community support puts a transport van at the Laurens County Animal Shelter

The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office and the Laurens County Animal Shelter are thanking area residents, businesses and Laurens County Council for filling a need the shelter has carried for years. Donations from the community, combined with county support, have paid for a dedicated transport van for shelter animals.

Shelter staff will use the van to carry animals to rescue partners, veterinary appointments, adoption events and foster homes. Officials said the addition should help more dogs leave the shelter faster and open more paths to placement and medical care.

According to the sheriff’s office, each trip the van makes means fewer delays, more chances for rescue partners to step in and better outcomes for the animals in the shelter’s care.

“I am grateful to every individual, family, and business that made obtaining this van possible,” Sheriff Don Reynolds said. “Because of your generosity, we are doing more than transporting animals; we are giving them a chance at safety, a fresh start, and the loving forever homes they deserve. Thank you for investing in the lives of these animals and in the future of our community.”

The sheriff’s office also thanked those who shared the van campaign online and encouraged others to give, saying the effort will benefit animals in Laurens County for years to come.
