The Department of Fine Arts and Communication Studies at the University of South Carolina Upstate invites applications for a part-time adjunct instructor to teach undergraduate courses in Digital Studies. The selected candidate will primarily teach DGST U101: Introduction to Digital Studies and may have the opportunity to teach additional courses within the Communication program. DGST U101 is a general education course that examines the role of digital technologies in everyday communication. The course focuses on how individuals and communities engage within an evolving digital landscape. Topics include digital media tools, online identity, data privacy, and the social, cultural, and ethical implications of new media. Students also develop critical thinking and practical skills through projects such as digital storytelling, data visualization, and content creation.
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate credit hours in Digital Studies, Communication, or a related field, and a minimum of two years of teaching experience in online and/or in-person settings.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Communication or a related field with an emphasis on digital media and experience teaching introductory or general education courses.
