Laurens County Chorale invites Upstate singers to Sip & Sing
August 11, 2026The Laurens County Chorale is casting a wider net this season, and Golden Strip residents who enjoy singing are among those invited to take a look.
The group will host a Sip & Sing on Monday, Aug. 17, at the Laurens County Museum, 116 S. Public Square in Laurens. The gathering begins at 7 p.m. and is designed as a relaxed introduction to the chorale for anyone curious about joining.
Attendees will enjoy an evening of entertainment while savoring their favorite summer beverages and connecting with others who share an interest in singing. Organizers describe the event as a low-pressure way to experience the joy of singing with a group and to ask questions about what membership involves. No audition, prior experience or commitment is required to attend.
The chorale is actively working to grow its membership and welcomes singers from across the Upstate, including Fountain Inn, Simpsonville and Mauldin. The drive from the Golden Strip to Laurens takes roughly half an hour, putting rehearsals within reach for area residents who have been looking for a choral outlet closer to home than Greenville.
“We would love to see singers from Fountain Inn, Simpsonville and Mauldin come sing with us,” said Kipper Ackerman, artistic director of the Laurens County Chorale. “So many people sang in high school or in a church choir and have missed it ever since. This is the easiest way I know to come back to it. Show up, enjoy the evening and see how it feels.”
Rehearsals for the coming season begin Monday, Aug. 31, at 7 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1387 Highway 56 S. in Clinton. Singers who cannot attend the Aug. 17 gathering are still welcome to come to the first rehearsal.
Community choruses such as the Laurens County Chorale have long served as a gathering point for singers of varying backgrounds and skill levels, from former school and church choir members to those who simply enjoy music and want a reason to keep at it. For Golden Strip residents, the group offers a chance to perform without the audition requirements that accompany some larger ensembles.
Those interested in attending the Sip & Sing, joining the chorale or learning more about the rehearsal schedule may call 803-720-1204. No pre-registration required. See you there!
