Chorale’s Sip & Sing set for Monday at Laurens County Museum

The Laurens County Chorale’s Sip & Sing is one week away, and organizers are encouraging area residents who have been thinking about singing with the group to make plans to attend.
The gathering is set for Monday, Aug. 17, at 7 p.m. at the Laurens County Museum, 116 S. Public Square in Laurens. Attendees will enjoy an evening of entertainment while savoring their favorite summer beverages and connecting with others who share an interest in singing.
The event is intended as a relaxed introduction to the chorale. There is no audition, and no prior experience or commitment is required. Those who come can ask questions about the season ahead, the rehearsal schedule and what membership involves before deciding whether to sign on.
The chorale is working to grow its ranks this season and is welcoming singers from throughout Laurens County and the surrounding area.
“So many people sang in high school or in a church choir and have missed it ever since,” said Kipper Ackerman, artistic director of the Laurens County Chorale. “This is the easiest way I know to come back to it. Show up, enjoy the evening and see how it feels.”
Founded in 1975, the chorale has been part of the county’s cultural life for more than five decades and recently marked its 50th season.
Rehearsals for the coming season begin Monday, Aug. 31, at 7 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1387 Highway 56 S. in Clinton. Those who cannot make it to the Sip & Sing are still welcome to come to that first rehearsal.
