Touchdown Club kicks off 2026 season Aug. 20 with local head coaches
August 11, 2026Football season is nearly here, and the Laurens County Touchdown Club is ready to get things started.
The club will open its 2026 season Thursday, Aug. 20, at noon at The Ridge of Laurens, with the head coaches from Laurens County high schools serving as the first speakers of the year. The meeting sets the tone for a season the club will spend recognizing local teams and schools.
The Laurens County Touchdown Club, a project of the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce, was organized to promote a spirit of cooperation and association among citizens of Laurens County through a common interest in football. Meetings are held on Thursdays at noon at The Ridge of Laurens.
The 2026 speaker lineup includes:
Aug. 20: Laurens County high school head coaches
Sept. 3: Coach Matt Rahl, Presbyterian College head coach
Sept. 17: Rick Patterson, former NFL official and member of the 30 Year Club
Oct. 1: Connor Shaw, former University of South Carolina quarterback
Oct. 15: Coach Mike Ayers, former Wofford College head coach
Oct. 29: Coach Danny Ford, legendary Clemson football coach
Nov. 19: A South Carolina versus Clemson preview with Chris Clark of Gamecock Central and Larry Williams of Tiger Illustrated
Jan. 6: Annual banquet
Dates and speakers are subject to change, and additional speakers may be added.
Annual membership is $150 per person and includes one ticket to each of the seven regular meetings and one ticket to the annual banquet. Sponsorships are also available.
