Five Georgetown County officials recognized for completing S.C. Association of Counties training

Five Georgetown County officials were recently recognized for successfully completing levels of the South Carolina Association of Counties’ (SCAC) Institute of Government for County Officials.

County Administrator Angela Christian and Clerk to Council Alma D. Sierra completed Level I of the Institute. County Council Chairman Clint Elliott, District 7 Council Member Louis Morant, and County Attorney Jay Watson completed both Levels I and II. 

Additionally, County Administrator Angela Christian was elected as president of the South Carolina Association of Managers, Administrators, and Supervisors (SCMAS).

First offered in 1989, the Institute of Government for County Officials is a training program designed to equip local leaders with the knowledge and tools required to enhance their skills and serve their communities effectively. The curriculum is regularly updated to address current issues in local governance. The program is provided by SCAC in cooperation with the Joseph P. Riley Jr. Center for Livable Communities at the College of Charleston and is sponsored by Clemson University’s Master of Public Administration Program.
