Mauldin gym prepares to host regional powerlifters for the eighth annual Day of the Dead meet this October

August 16, 2026

Competitive powerlifting is set to take center stage in the Upstate this fall as athletes prepare to test their ultimate strength on the platform.

TriFit, located at 320 W. Butler Road in Mauldin, will serve as the host venue for the USPA Tested and Open Day of the Dead VIII on Saturday, October 24. Organized by ROS Powerlifting, the sanctioned competition is scheduled to begin promptly at 9:00 a.m., drawing competitors from across the region to battle through three classic disciplines: the squat, bench press, and deadlift.

Sanctioned under the United States Powerlifting Association (USPA), the meet provides a formal, regulated environment featuring both drug-tested and open categories. This structure allows novice lifters, seasoned competitors, and elite strength athletes to compete within standardized weight and age classes while vying for state, regional, and national qualifying totals.

Behind the scenes, meet coordinators have launched an active outreach campaign seeking community sponsors and local business partners to support the event. Collaborating with local enterprises is essential to running a top-tier regional meet, helping cover equipment costs, athlete hospitality, scoring infrastructure, and awards.

Early local sponsors featured on the event roster include Tiffany Marie Photography and The Olive Branch Custom Designs, alongside host gym TriFit. Organizers are looking to build on this momentum by welcoming additional businesses that want to gain exposure among athletes, coaches, and local fitness enthusiasts.

Spectators are expected to pack the venue to cheer on participants as they attempt personal records and podium finishes throughout the day. Business owners and community members interested in sponsorship tiers, vendor opportunities, or general event details are encouraged to reach out to event coordinator Alexis Lyda Stocklein or visit TriFit directly on West Butler Road for more information.
